The Paula G Reality is creating a buzz around southwestern Connecticut with an original sound, a new CD and a connection to a music legend.
The band was started by vocalist Paula Gallo and keyboard player John Lamb – whose moog bass is part of the band’s distinctive sound.
Gallo had been a sideman for groups including Band Together, who she performed with at the annual Bridgeport music festival the Gathering of the Vibes.
The other members of the band are Scott Williams on guitar and Jim Syarto on drums.
All the songs on the band’s new self-titled CD are written by Lamb and Gallo. Emmy award winner Charlie Karp appears on two tracks.
At age 16, Karp got the lead guitar gig with the Buddy Miles Express which was touring with Jimi Hendrix at the time. His blazing guitar solo on Them Changes helped make the song Miles’ biggest hit ever.
Vocalist Paula Gallo has been involved in music since taking piano lessons as a young girl. She sang karaoke at Connecticut bars. Her powerful singing voice soon earned her a spot as a sideman for groups including Band Together, who she performed with at the annual Bridgeport music festival the Gathering of the Vibes.
Gallo wrote the songs on the Paula G Reality CD with keyboard player John Lamb. In addition to being the lead vocalist, Paula is also the band’s art director. She designed the CD cover and all of the band’s promotional posters.
John Lamb – keyboards, moog bass
Keyboard player John Lamb aka LambBone has four solo CDs to his credit including Wild Man in 2008. His songs have been played on more than 300 radio stations across the US and Canada. His thumping moog bass is a signature sound of the Paula G Reality.
In addition to playing keyboards on the CD, Lamb engineered part of the recording and wrote the songs on the band’s CD with vocalist Paula Gallo.
Scott Williams – guitar
Guitarist Scott Williams first played in a band with John Lamb in high school in Westport, CT.
The two had been looking to do a project together for some time – but the timing never worked out until 2011.
Jim Syarto – drums
Milford native Jim Syarto is one of the original band members. He met keyboard player John Lamb while both played in a previous band. The two had done some recording together and clicked, so when when Lamb was looking for a drummer for the new band he was forming he only made one phone call. Jim studied at the Percussion Institute with Bernard Purdy. His favorite drummer is Vinnie Colaiuta who has played with Frank Zappa and Jeff Beck.
