A new recording from a Westport, Connecticut<\/strong>-based indie-rock band is proof of that.<\/p>\n

The Paula G Reality\u2019s new self-titled CD has been a project that\u2019s been brewing on the back burner for years. It took a life changing event to bring it front and center.<\/p>\n

Paula Gallo<\/strong> has been involved in music since childhood. She took piano lessons, sang in the chorus, and made music with friends throughout high school and college.<\/p>\n

While Paula was talented in music she also was talented in art. So after graduating college she became a graphic designer eventually landing a lucrative corporate job that included worldwide travel.<\/p>\n

However, in the economic downturn in 2008 Gallo found herself unemployed \u2013 and mired in depression.<\/p>\n

One day a friend gave her a ticket to a music show featuring a group called Band Together<\/strong> that has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity. That event changed her life.<\/p>\n

\u201cI met a whole community of people that were making a difference with music. It rekindled my passion for music,\u201d said Gallo.<\/p>\n

She began teaching music lessons in piano and voice.<\/p>\n

She also started singing at local bars gaining notice and fans. Her powerful singing voice soon earned her gigs as a sideman for various bands including Band Together, who she performed with at the annual Connecticut music festival, the Gathering of the Vibes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In 2010, Paula formed her own band with keyboard player John Lamb<\/strong> aka LambBone . Lamb has four solo CDs to his credit including Wild Man in 2008. The two started writing original songs for the new band. Lamb brought in drummer Jim Syarto<\/strong> and guitar player Scott Williams<\/strong> to go with his own thumping Moog bass which is one of the band\u2019s signature sounds.<\/p>\n

The band has already landed some big gigs and has been hooking up with some music heavyweights.<\/p>\n

Their New York debut took place in May, 2011 at the Samsung Experience<\/strong> at Time Warner Center.<\/p>\n

Emmy award winning guitar player Charlie Karp<\/strong> consulted on the recordings and appears on two tracks. The recording was produced by Mark Hermann<\/strong>, whose production credits include Five for Fighting<\/strong> and The Tudors<\/strong> on Showtime.<\/p>\n
